This was not an Elvis song I really remembered and this is only the first time you will see this word in this post! Just saying!
So good to be with Sam and the others for
again this week. Join us!
I Forgot to Remember to Forget
Saturday 9: I Forgot to Remember to Forget (1955)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
In honor of Elvis' birthday (January 8.)
1) Elvis sings that he thinks about this girl all the time. What person or topic is on your mind this Saturday?
I am writing this on Thursday morning as I will be spending the rest of the week with my sisters, celebrating the birthday of the youngest. Is it possible my baby sister will be 68? Heavens, I'm not even that old!
So, on this Saturday morning, I will be remembering our sweet time together as I drive back home with a grateful heart.
2) He wants to forget the day he met his girl, but simply can't. Think about someone very important in your life. Did you know right away that they were going to be influential?
That would be my husband. Actually, I knew he would be my husband before I ever met him. Only after we met on a blind date and spent time together, this conviction was confirmed. After 53 years, it still is!
Since this week's song is about memories, let's check on how well you recall events in your own life.
I don't remember details of a lot of events from the past like my sis does. Perhaps it's selective remembrance.
I don't dwell in the past, but there are definitely events that I like to relive and think back on very fondly. There are also those regrets, but because I believe that God has had a plan for me since before I was conceived, I also see my past as part of His plan. Even those times I was out of His will, He used to bring about good.
3) What was the first concert you ever attended?
I think it would have been a religious quartet, but don't recall the name of the group. (See answer to #2)
4) Where did you get your first piercing? (Not only where on your body, but who did the deed and where did they do it?)
I only have ear piercings and I did them myself in the early 70's.
5) What's the name of the bank where you had your first checking account?
A locally owned bank, Bastrop National Bank in Bastrop, LA
6) Tell us about your first bicycle.
I found this picture that looks exactly like the one I had. It was a Schwinn bike and I absolutely loved it. It took me on many adventures.
7) Who received the first text you ever sent?
Oh heavens, I have no idea, but a guess would be either my husband, son or daughter.
8) What had you been drinking when you suffered your first hangover?
I don't drink, so have never had a hangover.
9) Whose was the first wedding you ever attended?
There is a definite pattern of not remembering in this post!
My dad was a pastor and performed many weddings and we would have gone to everyone of them, I'm sure. So, I have no idea who would have been the first.
But, let me share a picture of a dear precious girl we've know since she was born who got married last weekend. She was the most stunning bride! The photographer was the granddaughter of one my best friends and did an amazing job of capturing every aspect of this special day.
Come back next week for Christmas updates and memories.
Well, we pretty much answered #9 the exact same, oh, the joys of a PK. I am just sick that I was unable to attend Caitlin's wedding. What a gorgeous bride and one of the finest young ladies I have ever known.
ReplyDeleteBut you did remember your first bike! So I guess when a memory is dear to you, it burrows in and sticks.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful time with your sisters!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful photo you posted! I love it. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.
