Remembering Christmas 2018

It may be a bit after-the-fact to do a Christmas post, but circumstances haven't permitted putting it together before now.  So, bear with me, please.

As we normally spend Christmas with our son and his family, we made a quick trip to see our grands in Dallas for a little early Christmas.

Brad and Chandler hosted us for a lovely dinner at their home and we so enjoyed our time with these dear, dear grandchildren.

We left for Northern Indiana on December 16, giving us several days to play and visit before Christmas.

We took our usual trip into Amish country one day.

In one of the stores we always go to, there was a group of Amish and Mennonite children singing Christmas carols.  They were so sweet and really had a good sound.

On our way to Shipshawana, we noticed a sign for a bakery that we hadn't seen before.  So on the way home, we knew we had to find it.  It is called "Country Lane Bakery" for a good reason.

It is very small little place but oh my goodness, it was full of the most delicious looking breads and pies.  The owners are a cute young Amish couple.  We left with three different fresh breads, an Apple Caramel Coffee Cake and a box full of cinnamon rolls.  For people not supposed to eat bread, we kinda made fools of ourselves.

The cinnamon rolls are huge and the most delicious I've ever eaten.

Another day, Michelle, our daughter-in-love had planned the most fun outing for several of us.

I had never heard of "Board & Brush", so didn't know what to expect.  We selected the design we wanted to make a few days before so everything was set up and ready for us when we arrived.

Sammie is getting married in the fall, so made this for her future home.

The sweet couple, Jackson and McKenna with mothers and grandmothers.

There were 15 of us and Jackson was the only male, but he wasn't the least bit intimidated.

We stained our boards then used stencils and paints for the designs.  There were no two just alike which made it more fun.

Thank you Michelle for such a fun event.

This was my art piece and

my back porch is where it found a home back in Louisiana.

Tomorrow, I'll finish up with some Christmas family scenes.

  4. I love your plaque - what a great activity!!! When I worked for 6 months in Mishawaka, Indiana I heard all about Shipshawana for so many of the other employees there! I was just so impressed with Lake Michigan that I never made it away from the lake to see other things!! HA
