2. Four of your favorite summer foods?
Watermelon, salads, salmon, fudge ice cream bars, and most anything I don't have to cook (I know, excessive again)
3. What were you doing at a quarter past four yesterday?
Getting ready to meet friends for dinner at the nearest Rockfish restaurant.
4. fore!, four letter word, four sheets to the wind, ten-four, 24/7, four eyes, these four walls....pick a 'four' phrase and tell us how you relate currently
Probably "four letter word". There is so little to watch on TV that doesn't use the undesirable "four letter word." We have been trying to find good, wholesome Netflix, Prime, HBO, etc. movies for our nighttime watching, but if one is R rated, then you can just about know foul language is involved.
We have learned however, that there is an app called VidAngel that filters out sex scenes and bad language. There is a monthly fee and not all movies are covered, but friends who use it say it is well worth the investment.
5. Something you own that is four years old?
Because I wasn't sure, I went back to 2017 blog posts and found this.
I still have this whole outfit that I bought back in November four years ago. I'm not sure I will ever get tired of wearing it.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Speaking of movies, we watched the HBO movie series, Chernobyl. I highly recommend it. The following video deals with the perspective taken in making the movie. Very interesting.
My perspective after watching the movie was a mix of disgust and fear that we are so easily manipulated . I have disgust that the world was not allowed to actually know what happened in this part of the world in 1986. We had no idea of what really was happening and therefore felt very removed and remote from the death, ugliness of cover-up, fear and total despair of fellow human beings.
I must wonder, how apart we still are of peoples around our world, or even next door who are suffering while we are concerned about buying the latest kitchen gadget or newest bed sheets.
I wonder how different our lives would be right now, if the perspective of those in control during the pandemic had been different.
Seeing events based on someone else's particular perspective is both good and bad, but as Christians, we are called to have a world view based on God's perspective.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16
It really is hard to find TV that is clean. From time to time even a regular show we watch will have a topic we don't wish to see and just have to turn it off.
ReplyDeleteWe are always searching for a series and so many are filled with such a great story line and such filthy language (such as Yellowstone). We started it and didn't get 15 minutes into it and couldn't believe the language, so that ended that. We might check out your suggestion, Tommy would likely really enjoy it. Have a great rest of your week!
ReplyDeleteBelievers need to dig deep in God's Truth for sure. There's a lot of persecution going on in Africa that we get little news about. TV is embracing all the evil of Romans 1 for sure. That outfit really looks nice on you and I can see why you will wear it again. Happy last week of July to you!
ReplyDeleteyour outfit from 2017 looks amazing with your coloring!!
ReplyDeleteWe watch so little TV these days. Even without the language so much of it is just not very entertaining. We tend to watch reruns of old programming : ) Love those colors on you!
ReplyDeleteAwesome answer for #1. Pretty great choices for #2 also. Dinner out, that must have been nice. You are definitely right about the words used on TV. We are watching the Sopranos since we never saw it and let me tell you the strip club really gets to me. If that stuff is they only way they were able to get viewers that pretty sad. That's a lovely outfit. Very good point in your random thought. I agree, people need to see that series. It was unbelievable.
ReplyDeletegreat answers and so thought provoking, your last answer. I haven't seen the movie.
