A Southern Grateful Post

It's good to be back with the Hodgepodge this week.
This is a link to the host site for all the other Hodgepodger's answers.

1.  In a rut, in a jam, in the groove, out of synch, off balance, out of touch...which saying best fits some area of your life currently (or recently)? Explain.

It would be "out of synch."  We have been away from home for the past two weeks and any time we are out of our regular place and routine, we tend to feel a bit out of synch.  I will be sharing about our trip in posts to come, but just know it was a fun, family and sport-filled time.

2. What is it about somebody else's style of work (coworker/employee/shared volunteer project/household chore) that makes you crazy? Why?

I had a former co-worker who never planned and was a major procrastinator.  She would wait until the last minute to do everything and then got nothing else accomplished while trying to meet a deadline that she had not prepared for.  This drove me crazy.  What helped me know it was time to retire was when she became the head administrator.  She had absolutely no administrative skills what-so-ever and her inability to make timely and wise decisions drove me crazy.  Yes, cra cra cra!!!  Yes retirement!!!

3. What's a tradition that always makes you feel at home?

It has been said that there is nothing like southern hospitality and that is true.  A southern hostess will always say, "Hey ya'll, come on in.  Can I getcha cup uh' coffee or a tall glass uh' tea?"  This greeting may or may not include a hug, but it doesn't matter.  You know she's glad you're there.

4. A favorite song with a girl's name in the title or lyrics? Any reason why this is a particular favorite?

"Mary Did You Know?"  The words speak for themselves as to why.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will some day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you
.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand
?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

Oh Mary did you know

The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am

5. Share a favorite quote, verse, or saying relating to gratitude or thanksgiving.

There are 138 passages of  Scripture on the subject of thanksgiving.  Two that mean a lot to me are,
"In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" from 1 Thessalonians 5:18 and from Colossians 3:17, "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

I also love the old German hymn, written by a Lutheran pastor, Martin Rinkart in 1636, "Now Thank We All Our God, with heart and hands and voices, Who wondrous things has done, in Whom this world rejoices...."

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Regarding the horrible atrocity that took place in Sutherland Springs, Tx this week, I want to share a fellow blogger's response.

 "God be with you  'til we meet again;
When life's perils thick confound you.
Put His arms unfailing round you,
God be with you 'til we meet again."
