Will Rogers is well known for this saying: "We can't all be heroes because somebody has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by." Veteran's Day is that special day when we can do just that - appreciate the heroes who have fought for the freedom to sit on the curb and clap.
2. What's your favorite film with a patriotic theme woven into the storyline?
"American Sniper" but also I liked the old movie, "Patton."
3. Flu shot-yes or no? If you answered no, do you plan to get a flu shot? If not, why not? Have you ever had the flu?
I do not plan to get a flu shot this year for several reasons. First, I don't like putting the virus in my body in order to prevent getting the virus. Second, I have never had the flu and third, I am not around children or a large gathering of people on a regular basis in order to be exposed to the virus.
I haven't even decorated for fall yet! So what does that tell you? After our little anniversary party that can be seen HERE, I just haven't been in the decorating mood. I never do a lot of Christmas decorating anyway because for the last several years we have not been at home for Christmas. Now, what do I think of all the early ruckus? I think it unnecessarily gets earlier every year. There is admittedly a very short commercial Christmas season if they wait until after Thanksgiving, but many stores are putting decorations out in mid October. Much too early!
5. What 'critter' are you most afraid of encountering unexpectedly? Why that one?
Either a mouse or a roach. Can't tolerate either one!
I don't think I'm a builder unless you want to consider the two books I "compiled" or built for our anniversary celebration.
I am most grateful for and humbled by the unconditional election of my Sovereign, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I am also grateful for and humbled by the unconditional love and acceptance of my Hubby. For instance, this morning he sent me this video and then walked in with a beautiful plant. Just because!
Beautiful, thank you for sharing your family with us. Have a lovely day. Blessings
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're enjoying a sweet time with family this fall. I don't think we'll get the stores to hold off until December, but I surely do wish they'd at least wait until November 1. This year I saw Christmas out in Lowes in September??? I wonder if people who put their trees up Nov 1 lose a little of the magic by the end of Dec? Maybe not, but I know I would. I think the anticipation of it all is part of the fun, and I know I couldn't sustain that for two full months : )
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your family is such a blessing to you, and the photographs are beautiful. I am with you on the mice. (Neigbours on Wednesday Hodgepodge!)
ReplyDeleteI am also afraid of a mouse, eeek! Also, I like to take one holiday at a time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture of your granddaughter and family. Looks like you are enjoying some fun family times.
Good morning! Well as usual I share most of your feelings...enjoy the same patriotic films, dislike flu shots for the same reason, HATE mice and roaches equally, lol, and couldn't agree more with number 7. We do get our Christmas decs up early at my house [already started the process] but for a few reasons that NEVER use to be the case. For years and years and YEARS we did our decorating beginning the day after Thanksgiving and by the end of that holiday week-end we'd be all set. But these days we spend most of our Thanksgiving week-ends away at my daughters and upon returning the week-end is not only over we are usually beat and need a little relaxing time. By the time we "feel" like it we are to far into December to bother, lol. We also no longer feel like spending hours and hours [which is what it takes inside and out!] getting it up, so while I guess we could eliminate and simply not do, we aren't quite ready for that either. So we divide it all up into 2 weeks inside and 2 weeks outside and we put it up slowly working only a couple of hours or so each time. That way we are done well before noon on a Sat and we have the rest of the week-end to relax or play. We don't light it up however. This way we leave for the week for Thanksgiving and come home to just set the timers for things to go on. Works well for both of us. We take it down in two days however...that always seems to go quicker, lol. I LOVE Christmas decor. I LOVE that my grandkids [who are usually all here sometime during the season] LOVE our Christmas decor. Someday, I know it's coming, I will hang a wreath on our door and set out my nativity set and call it a wrap, lol. But not yet. But as for the stores with it all up well before Halloween, and in some cases Sept., [christmas music is playing in many already!] I have always disliked that. OK, SORRY for the book in your comment section. Enjoy the rest of your day!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 50th!!! That is awesome! Hope you have an amazing week!

ReplyDeleteI like the Will Rogers quote. I picked American Sniper too, great movie. There are so many great ones out there to watch. I'm with you on NOT getting the flu shot. My doctor gets mad at me when I say no. I love that Micheal Buble song. Your husband is so sweet.
